An extreme heat watch has been issued for the Twin Cities and much of the southern half of Minnesota as temperatures spike going into the weekend.
The National Weather Service has implemented the watch from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening, with temperatures rising into the 90s from Saturday, while the humidity will send the heat index to “feels like” temperatures of 100-105F.
It’s warning that the chances of heat-related illnesses will increase significantly, with residents urged to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and stay in air-conditioned rooms.
