Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 arrested 72-year-old Kurt H. Johnson of Joliet, IL for numerous sex-related offenses.
In May 2026, the Joliet Police Department requested ISP to investigate a sexual abuse allegation. As a result of the initial investigation, Johnson was identified as a suspect. On May 28, 2026, officers executed a search warrant at Johnson’s residence in the 500 block of Apollo Drive in Joliet and collected electronic evidence. On July 22, 2026, after a thorough investigation, the DuPage County State’s Attorney approved an arrest warrant for Johnson. On July 23, 2026, Johnson turned himself in to investigators. Johnson is being charged with the following 44 criminal charges:
- 2 Counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child (Class X Felony)
- 3 Counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 1 Felony)
- 3 Counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony)
- 2 Counts of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony)
- 17 Counts of Child Sex Abuse Material (Class X Felony)
- 17 Counts of Child Sex Abuse Material (Class 2 Felony)
