Former Libbey Glass plant continues environmental cleanup in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — The former Libbey Glass manufacturing plant is one step closer to redevelopment as remediation and demolition continue at the property.

North Louisiana Economic Partnership (NLEP) said remediation work began in April at the site, now known as the I-20 Legacy Site. Initial work has focused on environmental cleanup, including roof shingles and office buildings. Once cleanup is complete, the property will be marketed to industrial users.

“That could be anything from an advanced manufacturer to a distribution company, like an Amazon,” said Angie White, chief operating officer for NLEP. “More likely than not, it will be a manufacturer. We’re open to lots of different options depending on the fit for the site, the fit for our community, the kinds of jobs they would bring and the capital investment they would put into the community.”…
