Gambling Addiction Fueled Former Attorney’s Theft of More Than $300,000 From Clients

MANHATTAN BEACH – A gambling addiction fueled a former attorney’s theft of more than $300,000 from former clients who were expecting money from settlements and other court matters, prosecutors said.

Sergio Valdovinos Ramirez, 36, of Manhattan Beach pleaded guilty Monday to three felony counts of grand theft by embezzlement and one felony count related to writing checks with insufficient funds, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
