Emergency crews fly Border Patrol K-9 to La Mesa ER vet

LA MESA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Motorists were asked to avoid the area of Jackson Drive and Grossmont Boulevard in La Mesa Friday night while emergency crews flew in a Border Patrol K-9, according to the City of La Mesa.

The message was posted around 7:24 p.m., and the city asked the public to avoid the area for at least an hour while the K-9 was flown in to the ER vet by the United States Border Patrol.

At around 8:25 p.m., FOX 5/KUSI crews at the scene witnessed the Border Patrol helicopter carrying the injured K-9 preparing for landing near Grossmont Boulevard.

After the helicopter landed, officers retrieved the injured K-9, who was seen receiving an IV, and placed it on a stretcher as it was wheeled into the emergency clinic.

The extent of the K-9’s injuries is unknown at this time. FOX 5/KUSI reached out to Border Patrol for an update regarding the K-9’s condition, but has yet to hear back from the agency…
