Denver put weight restriction on 6th bridge; no one is really enforcing weight limit

  • A sixth Denver bridge, Lawrence Street over Cherry Creek, has been added to the list of bridges with weight restrictions for heavy vehicles, including fire trucks and semi-trucks.

A sixth Denver bridge has quietly been added to a list restricting heavy vehicles, including fire trucks and semi-trucks.

Lawrence Street over Cherry Creek, between north and southbound Speer Boulevard, is now weight restricted.

It joins the following bridges with weight limits:

  • Sixth Avenue over Cherry Creek between Lincoln and Broadway
  • Mississippi Avenue over South Platte River at Santa Fe
  • Quebec Street over Airlawn Road, south of Interstate 70
  • Smith Road over Quebec Street
  • Sandown Road over Quebec Street

The Quebec bridge over Airlawn, between I-70 and Smith Road, has a maximum weight limit of 20 to 21 tons, or about 40,000 pounds for semi-trucks…
