Former Texas A&M running back Le’Veon Moss was arrested on Monday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, after his 2-year-old son accidentally shot himself with an unsecured gun, according to multiple reports and arrest records.
According to arrest records first reported by College Station CBS affiliate KBTX, Moss and his girlfriend took his son to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital Monday afternoon with a gunshot wound. Baton Rouge Police were called, and Moss told police that he had put a loaded gun under his pillow in the couple’s bedroom. Moss’ son was able to pick up the weapon and shot himself with it. Moss then drove the child to the hospital. Moss’ son’s condition has not been released.
Moss was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one felony count of cruelty to juveniles. According to the arrest affidavit, “due to Moss’ negligence, a child under the age of 17 suffered unjustifiable pain.” Moss’ bond was set at $25,000.
