THUMBS UP

Diane Mack and Don Dubuc,

two local radio news veterans, were recently honored by the Press Club of New Orleans with lifetime achievement awards during the organization’s annual gala. Mack, a New Orleans native, started her career in TV at Lafayette’s KATC and then back home at WDSU before joining WWNO 89.9 FM, where she spent 35 years. Dubuc, also a local native who first worked in print and then TV, is an avid outdoorsman and hosted the “Outdoors with Don Dubuc” radio show for years. Both Mack and Dubuc announced their retirements earlier this year.

Books by Robert Mann and Karly Pierre

were chosen to represent Louisiana at the 2026 National Book Festival, held Aug. 22 in Washington, D.C. Each state makes two “Great Reads from Great Places” selections for the annual festival, and Mann’s “You are My Sunshine: Jimmie Davis & the Biography of a Song” and Pierre’s book for young readers, “Soggy Like Cush Cush,” will represent Louisiana’s culture and heritage.
