Some members of the San Francisco 49ers only learned about head coach Kyle Shanahan’s recent car accident when the team made a public announcement over the weekend. However, linebacker Fred Warner was informed earlier, as he shared during his Sunday press conference.
“Mandy, Kyle’s wife, reached out to me and my wife to update us on the situation,” Warner said. “My first thought was just hoping everyone was okay.
Car accidents are always frightening because you never know how serious they might be. Thankfully, everyone seems to be doing well, and we’re really grateful for that.”
Warner also mentioned that Shanahan’s attendance at Sunday’s practice wasn’t a surprise. “I know he can’t stay away,” he remarked. “Although he’s stepped back from some duties for now, Kyle is obsessed with football, so naturally, he wants to be around the team.”
He added, “Kyle’s eager to get back, but there’s no rush. The team is continuing on as usual. It was an unfortunate event, but the important thing is that he’s okay and everyone else is too.”
