Gas Prices Keep Climbing Nationwide and in New York State

Gas prices continue to rise, fueled by increasing crude oil prices. According to AAA, Monday’s national average price per gallon is $4.11, which is up nearly 11 cents from a week ago. New York State’s average price at the pump increased by more than eight cents to $4.23. In Chautauqua County, the average has risen to $4.26, which is more than two cents higher than last Monday. One year ago, the national and statewide averages were $3.15 and $3.17, respectively.

Volatility along the Strait of Hormuz and instability in the Middle Easet have pushed crude oil prices into the high $90s per barrel range last week. As of Monday morning, oil prices range from $85-91 per barrel. AAA says higher oil prices could continue driving up pump prices during the second half of summer…
