KIMMELL – A Ligonier man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after a child was seriously injured in an accident.
Ruben Garcia Jr., 30, 205 Wright St., Ligonier, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident after operating a vehicle while intoxicated and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury, both level 3 felonies; causing serious bodily injury when operating a vehicle with an ACE of 0.08 or more, a level 5 felony; resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor; and false informing, a class B misdemeanor.
On July 17, officers with the Noble County Sheriff’s Office were advised of an accident on Gilbert Lake Road, Kimmell. Upon arriving, officers noted that the involved vehicle had rolled onto its driver’s side into a ditch. Officers saw Garcia, who fled on foot through the fields south of the wrecked vehicle…
