The Minnesota Yacht Festival is back for a third year at the beautiful Harriet Island Park in the heart of the Twin Cities. I was highly anticipating this festival simply because the artist lineup appeared to cast a wide net, ultimately making it seem like a family-friendly event that seemed to have a little bit of something for everyone—even your emo sibling. Reflecting on the weekend now, no single artist on the lineup specifically fits the Jimmy Buffett yacht music type. But on the other hand, each artist seems to be awesome, chilling out on boat-adjacent music.
Embarrassingly, I admit that I did overheat on Friday, aka the first day of the festiva—to no fault but my own. I sincerely appreciate the festival organization and support staff for emphasizing and promoting hydration to all attendees during the extreme heat on all three days. The show must go on; I was quickly on the mend and able to still catch five amazing artists the first day! I may not have been in the photo pit for Shaky Graves, but he was an outstanding soundtrack for my brief cooldown period.
