Stamper Road Closed in Fayetteville After Storm Damages Culvert System

Stamper Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina, shut down between Rogers Drive and Lyon Road. Why? A storm tore through and carved out a hole beneath the northbound lane. Heavy rain pummeled the downstream embankment, headwall, and culvert system until they gave way, according to city’s website.

Inspectors found the culvert had broken apart, leaving a cavity under part of the northbound lane. Crews are teaming up with engineers to examine what broke and determine how to fix it.
