Activist: $175K settlement in Horry County bus door case brings no closure for family

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A civil rights activist who has worked alongside the mother at the center of a settled Horry County school bus lawsuit says the resolution falls short of justice for the family.

Stephanie Floyd-McInnis settled her 2024 lawsuit against Horry County Schools and former bus driver Thomas Interlandi last week for $175,000. The suit stemmed from a 2023 incident in which Floyd-McInnis alleged her daughter’s arm became trapped in a school bus door.
