University of Minnesota closes its only residence and dining hall in St. Paul

Ahead of the upcoming school year, the University of Minnesota has announced the closure of its only St. Paul residence and dining hall.

Bailey Hall, located at 1458 Cleveland Avenue N, has been a fixture since 1949, housing tens of thousands of students during its tenure.

But the university confirmed its closure earlier this week despite many incoming students having already received their dorm assignments, or having selected Bailey Hall as their first choice for housing based on its  proximity to St. Paul classes.

Students will now be placed in other residence halls based on their housing preferences…
