Boston city councilor: Officers tied to WMass inmate’s death should be put on leave

BOSTON — A Boston city councilor again is calling for the officers involved in the death of a jailed man last year to be placed on leave.

Shacoby Kenny, a Springfield native, died in early December after a scrum with guards at the Suffolk County House of Correction, also known as South Bay. Last week, the state Office of the Medical Examiner ruled his death as a homicide.

“Now that the commonwealth has officially ruled Mr. Kenny’s death a homicide, the need for administrative leave until every criminal and administrative investigation has been completed is even more urgent,” Boston City Councilor Miniard Culpepper said in a statement Friday…
