The Alachua County Crisis Center plays a broad and essential role in the community. Its primary mission is to answer calls from anyone experiencing a crisis — whether emotional distress, sudden loss, overwhelming life events, or mental‑health challenges. A diagnosis is not required to receive support; the Center exists for any resident who is struggling and needs someone to talk to. Although the Crisis Center has many roles, this article focuses on the experience of one Alachua County Resident who is a frequent consumer of services due to a serious mental‑health disorder.
