Family mourns Toney mother of two killed in Seattle mass shooting

TONEY, Ala. (WAFF) – A North Alabama family is mourning the loss of Ashley Whitehead, 56, who was killed in a mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle festival in Washington state Sunday evening.

Whitehead, who lived in Toney for 10 years, had moved to Seattle a year ago to be close to one of her daughters. She was attending the festival with her daughter and son-in-law when the shooting occurred.

Seattle police said multiple suspects exchanged gunfire in the crowded festival. Whitehead was caught in the crossfire and suffered a gunshot wound to the torso. Her daughter stayed by her side until paramedics arrived. Whitehead was rushed to the hospital, where she died during surgery…
