HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – For many high school golfers, qualifying for one major championship in a summer would be considered a memorable accomplishment. For Guntersville High School junior Ty Hester, it became the standard. Hester has spent much of his summer competing on some of the country’s most prestigious stages, testing his game against elite amateur and junior golfers while representing both Guntersville High School and the state of Alabama.
His summer tournament schedule included appearances in the Alabama State Amateur Championship at the Country Club of Birmingham’s renowned West Course, the Alabama State Junior Championship at Valley Hill Country Club in Huntsville, and the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Each event presented a unique challenge, but together they offered invaluable experience for one of Alabama’s rising young golfers.
The Alabama State Amateur brought together many of the state’s top collegiate players, accomplished amateurs, and emerging young talent. Competing against experienced players on one of Alabama’s premier championship layouts provided Hester an opportunity to measure his game against some of the state’s best.
