NEW ORLEANS, La. (NEWS 15) — Louisiana HVAC experts are urging residents to schedule routine air conditioning maintenance as extreme heat strains cooling systems and drives up energy costs.
With temperatures reaching 95 degrees, service professionals say the combination of heat, rain, dirt, and debris can overwhelm residential AC units — especially those that have not been recently serviced.
“These 95-degree days that we’re having, it’s really hard for these systems to keep up,” Joshua Steele, service manager at One Hour Air, explained. “The outdoor units are out in the elements and all of the rain, all of the dirt, the debris and dust collect inside of those coils. Just having a routine maintenance and someone taking it apart and cleaning it.”…
