Across March and April 2020, Merrell and five co-defendants kidnapped, stabbed, drugged, and executed victims across state lines, disposing of their bodies by burning them in rural West Virginia and dumping remains into the Potomac River. Merrell faces mandatory life sentences on all counts, with sentencing set for January 25, 2027.
