Save Lives Now: Regional crime strategy targets highest-risk people and places in St. Louis area

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A regional initiative called Save Lives Now is bringing together law enforcement, researchers and community organizations across the St. Louis area to address violent crime through a strategy that combines enforcement with intervention and prevention.

The effort, organized through the East West Gateway Council of Governments, launched last year. Brandon Sterling, the program’s director, said the approach is driven by crime data — specifically nonfatal shootings, hotspot analysis and acts of retaliatory violence.

“It’s not just about policing,” Sterling said. “It’s about preventative action and also our willingness to hold people accountable if they don’t make different choices.”…
