Downtown Augusta business owner seeks help for losses due to road work

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – Sheila Jones took her pension to create a gourmet popcorn store on Broad Street back in November, but her dream is becoming a nightmare.

“We’re all in a really bad situation. All the businesses over here. So it’s just really tough and we need help,” said Jones owner of Popn’ Off.

Jones needs help because her business has dropped by more than 50 percent. She blames the roadwork downtown, saying as of now there’s not enough customers to pay rent…
