Baby Dies of Starvation, Parents Get Probation in Erie County

In a jaw-dropping display of leniency that highlights Western New York’s broken justice system, two reckless parents who allowed their 2-month-old infant to starve into a horrifying mass of “skin and bones” walked out of an Erie County courtroom with nothing more than a slap on the wrist: five years of probation.

Instead of serving time in state prison for causing their baby’s death, Luis Gonzalez Jr., 26, and Kitrina Udrea, 23, were handed a pass by County Judge James Bargnesi.

The couple, who pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter for the 2023 death of their daughter Londyn, spent barely 45 days in jail before being turned back out onto the street…
