PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) – The owner of a Pensacola bar is facing multiple charges after deputies say he blocked an alcohol inspection and shoved a deputy during an early-morning arrest, according to a criminal complaint.
Cortney Deantra Wright, 40, was taken into custody shortly after 3:30 a.m. on July 26 at Our Spot, 800 W. Michigan Ave., the complaint states.
Prior enforcement
According to the complaint, deputies were called to the business after a nearby resident complained about loud music and noise from the bar and surrounding vehicles. When deputies arrived, the complaint states they reported more than 100 vehicles on and around the property, patrons with plastic cups believed to contain alcohol, and a strong odor of marijuana near the entrance.
The complaint states Our Spot does not have an active liquor license. According to the complaint, on July 10, state alcohol agents and ECSO conducted an operation at the bar resulting in two arrests for illegal alcohol sales and operating a bottle club without a license.
On July 25 — one day before the arrest — a sergeant said Wright admitted he leases the business and allows patrons to bring their own alcohol, according to the complaint. The complaint states Wright was warned that practice is illegal under Florida law.
Blocked entry, physical confrontation
On July 26, deputies said they attempted to enter the bar to check for alcohol violations after observing suspected alcohol on-site and hearing music audible from the street, according to the complaint. The complaint states the front doors were locked and people inside appeared unable to get out…
