(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is warning about an increase in what they’re calling jewelry distraction thefts, a wave of crimes officials say is sweeping across the Sacramento area.
Suspects often appear friendly and non-threatening, asking for directions or providing fake gifts, hugs and even “blessings” — all to distract victims while removing valuable jewelry.
