APD: Person dies two days after being hit by vehicle on I-35

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police were in east Austin on Saturday to investigate the city’s 45th fatal crash of 2026.

According to Austin Police, officers responded to the 5600 block of N. Interstate 35 proper for a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

APD said responders took the pedestrian to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The person, who has not yet been publicly identified, was pronounced dead Monday.

It is unclear if the driver remained at the scene following the crash.
