JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Public Schools (JPS) students returned to their classrooms on July 29, 2026, kicking off a brand-new school year.
Anthony Sostre, whose daughter is entering the eighth grade, shared his daughter’s mixed feelings about the big step.
“She got nervous, because she’s going to the 8th grade now, so she’s stepping up a bit,” Sostre said. “She knows she has to step up her reading and writing. She was nervous, but excited at the same time.”…
