From day one, the Allis-Chalmers WD’s primary job at Klondike Farms was hauling wagons of crews harvesting tobacco.
“Once I could reach the pedals, I started driving the WD while everyone picked up tobacco plants and loaded them for transport to the tobacco shed,” Kevin Klahn said.
In 1953, his grandfather Robert Klahn purchased a new model WD off the showroom floor from a local dealer, Hanley Implement Co., for $2,200.
