MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — After Wednesday’s storms, a Menands homeowner was left to pick up the pieces after her basement foundation collapsed during the heavy rain. NEWS10’s Amber Fisher spoke with her about the damage, and also spoke with experts for advice on what you can do to protect your own home.

For some homeowners, the damage goes beyond what restoration crews can address. Jessica Bishop’s foundation collapsed into her basement, creating what she described as a mudslide.
“We were downstairs in our basement. I was actually doing laundry in our laundry room, and my partner was on the opposite side, and I don’t know how else to describe it other than the foundation just came barreling at us,” explained Bishop.
She continued, “You just saw water just coming in, just pouring, almost looked like a stream or river, just flowing, and our foundation wall is sitting in the middle of our basement.”…
