A mystery buried during America’s Bicentennial has resurfaced at the Ohio State Fair — except no one knows exactly where it is, according to a Columbus Dispatch report.
Nearly 50 years after volunteers buried a time capsule on the Ohio Expo Center grounds during the nation’s 1976 Bicentennial celebration, organizers acknowledge they have been unable to locate the capsule ahead of the 2026 opening that had long been anticipated.
One of the people who helped place artifacts into the capsule said she vividly remembers taking part in the ceremony as a young volunteer and expected to witness its unveiling this year.
