Dan Rice Days returns to Girard this week, bringing three days of entertainment, community traditions and family-friendly activities to downtown beginning Thursday.
The annual festival, running through Saturday, celebrates the life and legacy of Dan Rice, the famed 19th-century circus entertainer, entrepreneur and showman who spent his later years in Girard. Organizers say the event offers something for all ages while honoring one of the borough’s most notable historical figures.
Festivities begin Thursday with opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Attendees can enjoy performances by the Erie Heights Brass Ensemble and the Tennessee Back Porch Band, browse local craft and vendor booths, and view entries in the annual photo contest.
