Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy breaks ground on expansion

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Grand Rapids Public Schools broke ground on an expansion to the Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy Thursday morning.

District leaders, students and community members picked up shovels to celebrate what they called an investment in the future of Grand Rapids.

The 10,100-square-foot addition will add classroom space and a “state-of-the-art gymnasium” that can also host school events and regional gatherings, the district said. It was paid for by a $7 million capital campaign.
