NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department announced an arrest was made in a recent homicide investigation.
According to NOPD officers, on July 27, around 5:39 p.m., they were called to the 4900 block of Downman Road in the Pines Village neighborhood in response to a shooting.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment but died hours later, reclassifying the incident as a homicide.
Through an investigation, detectives identified 42-year-old Gary Williams as the suspect and issued an arrest warrant. On July 29, at 10:45 a.m., Williams was taken into custody through the help of the US Marshals Service, Louisiana State Police, NOPD VOWS and the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office.
He is currently booked into the St. James Parish Jail on a charge of second-degree murder, awaiting extradition to Orleans Parish…
