LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – New concrete structures are appearing along Broadway, and drivers are noticing. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the slabs are part of a federally funded safety project meant to improve one of Louisville’s busiest corridors, but specifics about what the medians are designed to do have not been publicly explained.
The structures sit low to the ground — about a foot high, a few feet wide and several feet long — planted near the corners of intersections along Broadway. They remain unfinished, surrounded by traffic cones, with open ground around them. Drivers are encountering them without much warning.
