The Dallas Cowboys showed interest in acquiring Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby and may still be considering a trade. Earlier this year in March, Dallas sought to bring in the five-time Pro Bowler. However, the Raiders initially agreed to send Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for two first-round picks but ultimately reversed course due to concerns over Crosby’s surgically repaired left knee.
When asked about the Cowboys walking away from a deal, owner Jerry Jones took exception to the suggestion. “We didn’t,” Jones emphasized, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.
“We understood his injury well and believed he could contribute. We were surprised by how things unfolded.
Since he’s back with the Raiders, any speculation about our plans would be misguided. He’s a Raider through and through.
He’s happy there, and honestly, this discussion shouldn’t even be happening.”
The Cowboys’ team physician, Dr. Dan Cooper, was among the medical experts consulted by the Ravens regarding Crosby’s health.
Jones’ remarks this week have reignited rumors about a potential trade involving Crosby and the Cowboys. However, Crosby himself appeared unfazed by the chatter.
“It doesn’t change anything for me,” he said Thursday, via Jarrett Bell of USA Today. “As an athlete in this position, you see it all, whether you want to or not.”
At this point, Crosby remains a member of the Raiders, while the Cowboys’ interest lingers quietly in the background.
