Police provide update of businesses facing theft and vandalism near Free Bridge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Businesses near Free Bridge have been increasingly calling the police to report routine theft and vandalism.

Charlottesville Police Department confirmed a 24.7% increase in calls in the first seven months of the year compared to the same time period in 2025, but did not release information on whether the crimes are connected to those living in a nearby encampment.
