HUNTERSVILLE – They don’t have a permanent lodge building or a large membership roster, but the members of Lake Norman Elks Lodge #392 have earned a reputation for making an outsized impact across the Lake Norman community.
With fewer than 50 members, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge serves Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, Charlotte and surrounding communities, focusing almost entirely on community service rather than maintaining a traditional social club.
“Our biggest challenge isn’t finding people who need help,” said member Sheldon Sperling. “It’s finding enough members to do all the work. We just want more people so we can do even more good.”…
