ALLO Communications has notified Boulder that it will not proceed with a planned citywide fiber network, citing higher labor and material costs, increased competition and changes in the telecommunications market.
Under a 2025 lease agreement, ALLO used part of the city’s fiber backbone and planned to expand high-speed internet access to 80% of Boulder by 2028 and 97% by 2030. The company acknowledged that withdrawing from the project means it will not meet its obligations under the agreement.
