OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) — For nearly a year, the city of Omaha has been collecting feedback, traffic counts and crash data along Ames Avenue from Florence Boulevard to 72nd Street as part of a federally funded safety study.
The Ames Avenue Safe Mobility Recovery Plan is funded by a $2 million grant awarded to Omaha in 2024 by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
City officials hosted a pop-up event at the North Omaha Transit Center to gauge what residents and business owners want to see to improve safety along the corridor, including options such as roundabouts and safety lights.
