White Linen Night turns 20. The people who started it remember how it almost stayed small

After New Orleans transplants Kay and Chris Thayer relocated to the Heights following Hurricane Katrina, they pitched an idea from their hometown to local business owners with a presence on 19th Street. White Linen Night, originally conceived on Magazine Street in Louisiana, encouraged shopping and spending in late summer, when sales often lagged.
