FIRST ALERT: Round 2 of storms pushes through tonight

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Our WVLT First Alert Weather Day continues through tonight as a secondary round of showers and storms will push into East TN.

TONIGHT: The SPC has highlighted areas along and west of I-75 in a Level 2 out of 5 Slight Risk for tonight. Storms will fire on the Cumberland Plateau around 6 PM. The severe threat will end near midnight. The main risks for storms tonight will be gusty winds and heavy rainfall which could lead to localized flash flooding, but a brief spin up tornado cannot be ruled out especially along the Plateau and Southern Valley.

SUNDAY: Mostly to partly cloudy skies with a few more passing showers. Overall, Sunday will be drier compared to Saturday. A few storms near the Tri-Cites could be on the stronger side with heavy rain and strong winds Sunday afternoon. Highs climb to the low to middle 80s.
