SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Water supply was shut off for a portion of Saturday at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego as crews responded to a water leak and inadvertently damaged an underground pipe, according to officials with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
At around 10 a.m., staff from the CDCR reportedly responded to a water leak at the facility, which required a temporary shutdown of the institution’s water supply to complete repairs.
During the repair process, an underground pipe was reportedly damaged, delaying restoration of water service. The facility implemented contingency measures during the water outage, including providing portable water and restrooms while repairs were completed, according to officials.
