Clay, N.Y.— Just one week after demolition began at Great Northern Mall, the owner says the project is already ahead of schedule and could wrap up sooner than expected.
“We are confident that we will complete demolition in under the prescribed 90 days from our start last week,” Guy Hart Jr., one of the property’s principal owners, told syracuse.com | The Post Standard on Wednesday.
New drone footage from syracuse.com shows how quickly the former shopping center is coming down. Large sections of the mall have already been torn apart, with piles of steel and other materials sorted for recycling as crews continue work on the site.
The demolition marks the beginning of a proposed redevelopment of the roughly 200-acre property at the northeast corner of Route 31 and Interstate 481.
