SYRACUSE, N.Y. — On a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night in Armory Square, especially in the summer months, people flow in and out of local bars and restaurants. When the clock strikes 2:00 a.m., most of the bars close, forcing people to start their journey home. SPD Sgt. Tom Blake says at that point, it is time to take the hint and go home.
We certainly try to deter people from hanging out after hours.
SPD is bringing in additional agencies, like the New York State Police to help as a “force multiplier” on certain days. The department also added a Thursday night detail, plus added more officers on Fridays and Saturdays. “Thursday night has become increasingly popular,” Blake added.
