This Amarillo Event Wants You to Put Down Your Phone and Pick Up a Needle

The hobbies our grandmothers loved are making a comeback. Back in the day, we would sit and watch our grandmothers sew, knit, and crochet. We’d go with them while they sat in quilting circles with their friends. We’d play in the corner while they created magnificent quilts. Now a whole new generation is finding the love of “Grandma hobbies” or needle crafting.

That spirit is coming to Amarillo. A new event hosted by the Golden Collective is giving Amarilloans a chance to spend an afternoon off the screens, slowing down and creating memories.

When and Where to Find Stitch and Sip

Anyone who has an interest in a needle craft needs to grab their friends and mark their calendars for Sunday, August 9, at 3pm. The event will take place at Cask and Cork, located at 5461 McKenna Square. The Stitch and Sip event is a gathering of beginner and experienced crafters.

Why Gen Z Is Embracing Needle Crafting

A whole new generation is getting into Grandma hobbies. Gen Z is putting down their screens and looking for something quieter and more focused. If you look across TikTok and YouTube, Gen Z is picking up these hobbies, including baking, sewing, and more. They are either taking classes or learning from watching others on video.
