Preserving the Past: North Fulton and Atlanta – a story of boundaries and growth

In 2010, the population of Atlanta was about 420,000. The current population, according to the latest US Census Bureau estimate, is about 530,000. The unincorporated Fulton County population in 2010, the first year of statistics, was about 147,000, which by 2024 had grown to about 176,000. It is said that it is easy to lie with statistics, so take any stats with a grain of salt.

The point is that Atlanta has grown from a small town to a large metropolis for many reasons. The area that is North Fulton County today played a role in that process and is also a major population and employment center in its own right.
