A new restaurant coming to the Grand Strand promises authentic New York-style bagels.
When New York City teacher Christine Cheffo and firefighter Brian Bonsignore retired and moved down south, they brought their love of bagels. The pair own the Original Famous Bagel Dock Cafe in Calabash, North Carolina, which offers dozens of unique flavors and spreads.
Now, they’re expanding with a second space at 2016 Highway 17 S. in Surfside Beach. The new café is expected to open in early spring 2027.
“They can expect the best bagel they’ve ever had. We use pure filtered water and unbromated, unbleached flour, thus making for a healthier bagel,” said Cheffo. “Our water filtration system is hooked up to everything we do in the store, whether it’s cooking or ice or iced tea or coffee.”…
