Lions shimmied their manes and shook their tails Sunday morning as the sound of banging drums filled Jackson Street. Then the costumed dancers bounced to their feet, parading through San Francisco Chinatown with graceful movements, vibrant colors and clanging cymbals.
The Sunday performance marked the 55th anniversary of Leung’s White Crane, a martial arts school founded in San Francisco whose members train on Treasure Island and compete internationally in the centuries-old Chinese tradition of lion dancing.
