OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Adonis Bonar II is back home in Omaha after winning a gold medal at the U-20 Pan American Championships in Brazil — months after his college wrestling program was eliminated.
California Baptist University announced in January that it was cutting its men’s wrestling team following the 2025-26 season. Bonar, a true freshman starter, said the announcement came without warning.
“They literally just go, ‘Hey guys, we’re sorry. Prayed about this, we’re cutting your program. We’re sorry.’ And walked out,” he said. “We all kind of just sat there and were like, ‘Wow.’”…
